Kepler-1548 b: A Neptune-Like World in a Distant System

Kepler-1548 is a star located 2840 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 4.37 billion years old and has a mass of 0.99 solar masses and a radius of 0.97 solar radii, making it slightly less massive and slightly smaller than the Sun. Its reported temperature is 5710 K, cooler than the Sun's.

The sole planet in this system is Kepler-1548 b, a Neptune-like world discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1548 b completes an orbit every 125 days. Its radius is 2.64 Earth radii, an estimate larger than Earth's, placing it within the size class of planets that reach up to four times Earth's radius.
