Kepler-1539 b: A Neptune-Like World in a Single-Planet System

Kepler-1539 is a star located 2440 light-years away. The star is estimated to be 4.79 billion years old, with a mass of 0.84 solar masses, a radius of 0.8 solar radii, and a temperature of 5180 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-1539 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1539 b has an orbital period of 133 days, the time it takes to complete one orbit. Its radius is 2.7 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. In size classification, Neptune-like planets reach up to four times Earth's radius.
