Kepler-1524 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1524 is a star 1250 light-years away with a single known planet in orbit. The host star is 2.88 billion years old and has a mass of 1.17 solar masses, a radius of 1.25 solar radii, and a temperature of 6180 K. Each of these estimates exceeds the Sun's corresponding value: the star is more massive, larger, and hotter than the Sun.

The one known planet, Kepler-1524 b, is Neptune-like, a size class that reaches up to four times Earth's radius. Its radius of 3.54 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. The planet was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1524 b completes an orbit every 71 days.
