Kepler-1521 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1521 is a star located 675 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.47 billion years old, with a mass of 0.81 solar masses, a radius of 0.76 solar radii, and a temperature of 5040 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1521 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's observed brightness when a planet passes in front of it from our viewpoint. Repeated dips help establish the planet's orbital period. Kepler-1521 b completes one orbit every 47.1 days. It is classified as Neptune-like, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius, and its radius is 2.5 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
