Kepler-1509 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1509 is a star located 6530 light-years away. It has 1 solar mass, 0.99 solar radii, a temperature of 5780 K, and an age of 3.98 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-1509 b, a Super-Earth discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it from our viewpoint. The planet completes an orbit every 25.4 days and has a radius of 1.85 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's. A Super-Earth is a size class reaching 2.5 times Earth's radius.
