Kepler-150: A Star and Its Five Planets

Kepler-150 is a star located 2910 light-years away. It has five planets: Kepler-150 b, c, d, e, and f. The star is estimated to be 4.57 billion years old, with a mass of 0.94 solar masses and a radius of 0.91 solar radii. Its temperature is 5590 K, which is cooler than the Sun. Its mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's.

All five planets were found by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-150 b, c, d, and e were discovered in 2014, while Kepler-150 f was discovered in 2017.

Kepler-150 b is classified as Earth-like, with a radius of 1.25 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It has an orbital period of 3.43 days, the shortest among the listed planets.

The remaining planets are Neptune-like. Kepler-150 c has a radius of 3.69 Earth radii, the largest among the listed planets, and an orbital period of 7.38 days, the second-shortest. Kepler-150 d has a radius of 2.79 Earth radii and an orbital period of 12.6 days. Kepler-150 e has a radius of 3.12 Earth radii and an orbital period of 30.8 days, the second-longest. Kepler-150 f has a radius of 3.64 Earth radii and an orbital period of 637 days, the longest. Each of these four planets has a radius larger than Earth's.
