Kepler-1455 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1455 is a star 1170 light-years away with one known planet, Kepler-1455 b. The host star is 1.4 billion years old and has a reported mass estimate of 0.544 solar masses, a reported radius estimate of 0.518 solar radii, and a temperature of 3950 K. Each of these estimates is smaller or cooler than the Sun's corresponding value.

Kepler-1455 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's observed brightness when a planet passes in front of it; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. The planet completes one orbit every 49.3 days. It is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its reported radius estimate is 2.16 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
