Kepler-1415 b: A Close-In Earth-Sized World

Kepler-1415 is a star located 3400 light-years away, and it is host to one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.17 billion years old, with a mass of 0.89 solar masses and a radius of 0.84 solar radii. Its temperature is 5270 K. Compared with the Sun, Kepler-1415 is less massive, smaller, and cooler.

The planet Kepler-1415 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is classified as Earth-like, a size class for planets with radii within 1.5 times Earth's radius. Kepler-1415 b has an orbital period of 0.636 days, so it completes one orbit in well under a single day. Its radius is 1.29 Earth radii, making it larger than Earth.
