Kepler-1357 and Its Earth-Like Planet

Kepler-1357 is a star located 3310 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.57 billion years old, with a reported mass of 0.93 solar masses and a radius of 0.9 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 5600 K, and its mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's while its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1357 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1357 b completes an orbit every 3.01 days and has a reported radius of 1.28 Earth radii. That radius is larger than Earth's, placing it within the Earth-like size class, which covers planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius.
