Kepler-1339 and Its Sub-Earth Companion

Kepler-1339 is a star 1210 light-years away with one known planet in orbit around it. The host star is 5.62 billion years old, with a mass of 0.94 solar masses and a radius of 0.93 solar radii. Its temperature is 5590 K.

The system's only known planet, Kepler-1339 b, was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the observed brightness. Kepler-1339 b orbits every 1.34 days and has a radius of 0.71 Earth radii. That radius places it in the Sub-Earth size class, smaller than Earth.

The star's mass, radius, and temperature are each reported as less than the Sun's corresponding values. Kepler-1339 b's radius is likewise smaller than Earth's.
