Kepler-1334 b: A Super-Earth in Transit

Kepler-1334 is a star 3990 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 4.27 billion years old and has a mass of 0.94 solar masses, a radius of 0.91 solar radii, and a temperature of 5610 K. The star is less massive and cooler than the Sun.

The sole planet, Kepler-1334 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1334 b orbits every 15.6 days and has a radius of 2.29 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. A Super-Earth reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius, so this planet's size places it in that class.
