Kepler-1255 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1255 is a star 5270 light-years away, with one planet in its orbit. The star is 3.55 billion years old, holds 1.08 solar masses and 1.12 solar radii, and has a temperature of 6020 K, which is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1255 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the light briefly; repeated dips reveal the orbital period. Kepler-1255 b completes one orbit every 36.3 days and has a radius of 2.32 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
