Kepler-1217 b: A Super-Earth in a Two-Day Orbit

Kepler-1217 is a star located 4400 light-years away. It has an age of 3.8 billion years, a mass of 1.06 solar masses, a radius of 1.08 solar radii, and a temperature of 5910 K. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

Kepler-1217 b is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. The planet completes an orbit every 2.03 days and has a radius of 1.99 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
