Kepler-1140 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1140 is a star located 2140 light-years away. It is 5.01 billion years old, has a mass of 0.76 solar masses and a radius of 0.73 solar radii, and its temperature is 4850 K. Its reported mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, Kepler-1140 b, was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1140 b is Neptune-like, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 2.77 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's, and it completes an orbit in 24.1 days.
