Kepler-114: A Cool Dwarf and Its Three Transiting Planets

Kepler-114 is an M0 V star, a small, cool red dwarf, located 846 light-years away. Its reported mass is 0.77 solar masses, its radius is 0.71 solar radii, and its temperature is 4660 K. These figures place the star below the Sun in mass, radius, and temperature. It is 2.69 billion years old and hosts three known planets: Kepler-114 b, Kepler-114 c, and Kepler-114 d, all discovered by the transit method.

Kepler-114 b was discovered in 2014 and is classified as Earth-like. It has an orbital period of 5.19 days and a radius of 1.26 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest year by reported estimates and the smallest radius by reported estimates.

Kepler-114 c was discovered in 2013 and is classified as a Super-Earth. Its mass is 2.8 Earth masses, its orbital period is 8.04 days, and its radius is 1.6 Earth radii. Both its radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 3.77 g/cm³, 0.684 times Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the second-shortest year by reported estimates and the second-smallest radius by reported estimates.

Kepler-114 d was also discovered in 2013 and is classified as Neptune-like. Its mass is 3.9 Earth masses, its orbital period is 11.8 days, and its radius is 2.53 Earth radii. Its radius and mass estimates are both larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 1.33 g/cm³, 0.241 times Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the longest year by reported estimates and the largest radius by reported estimates.
