Kepler-1131 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1131 is a star located 3360 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The host star is 4.17 billion years old and has a mass of 1.03 solar masses, a radius of 1.04 solar radii, and a temperature of 5850 K.

The planet, Kepler-1131 b, was discovered by transit in 2016. That method detects a small dip in a star's brightness as a planet passes in front of it from our viewpoint; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1131 b completes an orbit every 3.53 days and has a radius of 1.59 Earth radii. That reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's. As a Super-Earth, its size class is based on radius, which reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius.
