Kepler-108: A Distant Two-Planet System

Kepler-108 is a star system 1100 light-years away. The host star is 3.89 billion years old and has a mass of 1.36 solar masses and a radius of 2.11 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's, with a temperature of 5820 K. Two planets orbit this host: Kepler-108 b and Kepler-108 c.

Both planets are Jupiter-like, meaning their radii exceed four times Earth's radius. They were discovered by transit, the dimming of a star's brightness as a planet crosses in front of it. Kepler-108 b has a radius of 8.65 Earth radii and an orbital period of 49.2 days, the shortest year among the listed planets. Kepler-108 c has a radius of 8.18 Earth radii and an orbital period of 190 days, the longest year among the listed planets and the smallest radius among them.
