Kepler-1051 b: A Neptune-Like World in a Distant System

Kepler-1051 is a star located 2700 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 1.74 billion years old, with a mass of 1.43 solar masses and a radius of 1.73 solar radii. Its temperature is 6680 K. The star's reported mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1051 b, is Neptune-like, a size class that extends to 4 times Earth's radius. It was discovered by the transit method in 2016, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. Its orbital period is 26 days, and its radius is 3.4 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
