Kepler-1613 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1613 is a star 4920 light-years away with one known planet in orbit. The host star is 3.55 billion years old and has a mass of 1.08 solar masses, a radius of 1.12 solar radii, and a temperature of 6010 K. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1613 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1613 b is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class reaching 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its reported radius estimate is 2.08 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 1.52 days.
