Kepler-1342 b: A Super-Earth in a Two-Day Orbit

Kepler-1342 is a star located 2910 light-years away. It has an age of 4.37 billion years, a mass of 0.93 solar masses, a radius of 0.9 solar radii, and a temperature of 5530 K. Its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet, Kepler-1342 b, is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class for planets whose radius reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's. Its radius is 1.66 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 2.22 days. The planet was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods.
