KELT-16 b: A Giant Planet in a Distant System

KELT-16 is an F7 V star located 1450 light-years away. The star is 3.1 billion years old and has a mass of 1.21 solar masses, a radius of 1.36 solar radii, and a temperature of 6240 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

KELT-16 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by the transit method in 2017. Its orbital period is 0.969 days. The planet has a radius of 15.9 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and a mean density of 1.21 g/cm³, or 0.219 times Earth's. Its mass estimate is 874 Earth masses, roughly 2.75 times Jupiter's mass, and larger than Earth's.
