K2-8: A K-Type Dwarf with Two Transiting Planets

K2-8 is a K3 V star, a cooler, main-sequence dwarf, located 1320 light-years away. Its mass is 0.78 solar masses and its radius is 0.74 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature of 4870 K is cooler than the Sun's. Two planets have been found orbiting this host.

K2-8 b is a Neptune-like planet discovered by transit in 2015. It has a radius of 3.58 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 10.4 days. K2-8 c is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016, with a radius of 2.41 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 5.06 days. Among the listed planets, K2-8 c has the shortest year, at 5.06 days, and the smallest radius, at 2.41 Earth radii; K2-8 b has the longest year, at 10.4 days, and the largest radius, at 3.58 Earth radii.
