K2-65 and Its Super-Earth

K2-65 is a star with one known planet. Its mass is 0.702 solar masses, its radius is 0.669 solar radii, and its temperature is 4800 K, so each of these reported estimates is smaller or cooler than the corresponding value for the Sun. The system’s planet is K2-65 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the observed brightness.

K2-65 b orbits once every 12.6 days and has a radius of 1.58 Earth radii, larger than Earth’s. Its reported size class places it within the Super-Earth range, where radius reaches 2.5 times Earth's.
