K2-60 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

K2-60 is a Sun-like G-type dwarf star 1600 light-years away. The star is 10 billion years old, has 0.97 solar masses, and a radius of 1.12 solar radii, larger than the Sun's. Its temperature is 5500 K, cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

K2-60 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star dims the observed brightness. It is a Jupiter-like planet, a class that exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. The planet's radius is 7.66 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mass is 135 Earth masses, larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 1.66 g/cm³, 0.302 times Earth's. The planet completes an orbit in 3 days.
