K2-49 is a star located 1490 light-years away. It has 0.69 solar masses, 0.727 solar radii, and a temperature of 4400 K, so its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.
That planet is K2-49 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. K2-49 b completes an orbit every 2.77 days and has a radius of 1.93 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
