K2-4 and Its Super-Earth
K2-4 is a star 756 light-years away with one known planet in orbit. The host star has a reported mass of 0.64 solar masses and a radius of 0.684 solar radii, making it both less massive and smaller than the Sun. Its temperature is 4120 K, cooler than the Sun's.
The system's only known planet is K2-4 b, a Super-Earth discovered in 2015 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. K2-4 b completes an orbit every 10 days, and its radius is 2.1 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
