K2-371 b: A Transiting Jupiter-like Planet

K2-371 is a star located 1440 light-years away. It has a mass of 0.958 solar masses, a radius of 0.736 solar radii, and a temperature of 4930 K. Its reported radius is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet is K2-371 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2022. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. K2-371 b completes an orbit every 3.11 days and has a radius of 13 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That radius places it beyond four times Earth's radius, the threshold for the Jupiter-like size class.
