System Layout
3 planets linked to this host
K2-37 is a G3 V star located 587 light-years away. Its spectral type marks it as a main-sequence dwarf of the same broad temperature class as the Sun. The star's reported mass estimate is 0.9 solar masses, its radius estimate is 0.85 solar radii, and its temperature is 5410 K, all three lower than the corresponding solar values. Three planets are known to orbit this host.
All three were discovered by the transit method, in which a planet crosses in front of its star and produces a small dip in observed brightness, and all three were reported in 2016. K2-37 b is an Earth-like planet with a radius of 1.39 Earth radii and an orbital period of 4.44 days. K2-37 c is a Super-Earth with a radius of 2.41 Earth radii and an orbital period of 6.43 days. K2-37 d is also a Super-Earth, with a mass of 12.5 Earth masses, a radius of 2.31 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 14.1 days. The size classes describe radius rather than composition: an Earth-like planet remains within 1.5 times Earth's radius, while a Super-Earth reaches up to 2.5 times that radius.
Among the listed planets, K2-37 b has the shortest period and the smallest radius, while K2-37 c has the largest radius and the second-shortest period. K2-37 d has the longest period and the second-smallest radius. Its mean density is 5.59 g/cm³, 1.01 times Earth's.
