K2-33: A Very Young Star With One Known Planet

K2-33 is an M3 star located 454 light-years away. Its spectral class indicates a small, cool red dwarf, and at 0.0075 billion years old it is a very young star. It has 0.31 solar masses, 1.1 solar radii, and a temperature of 3410 K, making its reported mass estimate smaller than the Sun's and its reported temperature cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this star.

That planet is K2-33 b, discovered by transit in 2016 and classified as Jupiter-like. It has a radius of 5.04 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and a reported upper limit of 1175.971 Earth masses. Its orbital period is 5.42 days.
