K2-319 is a star located 682 light-years from Earth. It has a mass of 0.91 solar masses and a radius of 0.925 solar radii, making it slightly smaller than the Sun, and its temperature of 5300 K is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.
That planet, K2-319 b, is classified as Neptune-like and was discovered in 2020 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish the planet's orbital period, which is 26.7 days. K2-319 b has a radius of 2.79 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its size classification places it within the range of Neptune-like planets, which reach up to 4 times Earth's radius.
