K2-291 and Its Super-Earth

K2-291 is a star 294 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 3.72 billion years old and has a mass of 0.934 solar masses, a radius of 0.899 solar radii, and a temperature of 5520 K, making it smaller, less massive, and cooler than the Sun.

The planet K2-291 b is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2019. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint. K2-291 b has a mass of 6.49 Earth masses, a radius of 1.59 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 2.23 days. Its radius is larger than Earth's, and its mass is larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 8.91 g/cm³, 1.62 times Earth's.
