K2-274 and Its Super-Earth

K2-274 is a star located 745 light-years away. It has 0.84 solar masses, a radius of 0.734 solar radii, and a temperature of 5020 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and it is cooler than the Sun. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet, K2-274 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2018. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, producing a small dip in brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. K2-274 b completes an orbit every 14.1 days and has a radius of 2.08 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. A Super-Earth's radius reaches 2.5 times Earth's, and radius comparisons describe size, not volume.
