K2-261 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

K2-261 is a star 696 light-years away with a spectral type of G7 IV/V. It has an age of 4.83 billion years, a mass of 1.27 solar masses, a radius of 1.64 solar radii, and a temperature of 5500 K. Its reported mass and radius are larger than the Sun's, while its temperature is cooler. One planet orbits this host.

K2-261 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered in 2018 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star causes a small dip in observed brightness. It has a mass of 69 Earth masses, a radius of 9.27 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 11.6 days. Both its reported mass and radius are larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 0.477 g/cm³, 0.0866 times Earth's.
