K2-260 is a single known planet system located 2170 light-years away. Its host star is an F6 V main-sequence dwarf with a mass of 1.39 solar masses, a radius of 1.69 solar radii, and a temperature of 6370 K. The star is 1.9 billion years old. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter.
The system's only known planet is K2-260 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2018 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. K2-260 b orbits its star every 2.63 days. Its radius is 18.4 Earth radii, well beyond the roughly 4-Earth-radius threshold that defines the Jupiter-like class. With a mass of 547 Earth masses, the planet is roughly 1.72 times Jupiter's mass, and both its mass and radius estimates are larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.482 g/cm³, which is 0.0875 times Earth's.
