K2-254 and Its Two Super-Earths

K2-254 is a star 743 light-years away with two known planets, both classified as Super-Earths. This means their radii reach up to 2.5 times Earth's radius. The star itself has a reported mass estimate of 0.71 solar masses, a reported radius estimate of 0.67 solar radii, and a temperature of 4630 K. All three of these stellar values are smaller or cooler than the Sun's corresponding values.

Both planets were discovered in 2018 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. K2-254 b completes an orbit in 4.1 days and has a radius of 1.63 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. K2-254 c orbits in 12.1 days with a radius of 2.19 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, K2-254 b has the shortest orbital period and the smallest radius, while K2-254 c has the longest orbital period and the largest radius.
