K2-185 and Its Two Worlds

K2-185 is a star 875 light-years away with two known planets. The star has a mass of 0.96 solar masses, a radius of 0.94 solar radii, and a temperature of 5790 K. Its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's.

Both planets were discovered in 2018 by the transit method, which detects the slight dimming caused when a planet crosses in front of its star. K2-185 b is classified as Earth-like, with a radius of 1.15 Earth radii and an orbital period of 10.6 days. Its radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and among the listed planets it has the shortest year and the smallest radius. K2-185 c is a Super-Earth with a radius of 2.39 Earth radii and an orbital period of 52.7 days. Its radius estimate is also larger than Earth's, and it has the longest year and the largest radius among the listed planets.
