System Layout
2 planets linked to this host
K2-170 is a star 1280 light-years away with two planets in its system. The star has a mass of 0.964 solar masses, which is smaller than the Sun's mass. Its radius is 0.982 solar radii, and its temperature is 5750 K.
Both planets were discovered by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. K2-170 b orbits every 7.58 days and has a radius of 1.42 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's, and its Earth-like class compares its radius with Earth's. K2-170 c orbits every 12.4 days and has a radius of 1.8 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's, and it is classified as a Super-Earth.
