K2-157 and Its Three Planets

K2-157 is a G9 V star located 973 light-years away, with three planets known to orbit it. It is a main-sequence dwarf with a mass of 0.89 solar masses, a radius of 0.86 solar radii, a temperature of 5330 K, and an age of 8.8 billion years. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler.

K2-157 b was found by the transit method in 2018. It is a Sub-Earth with a mass of 1.14 Earth masses and a radius of 0.935 Earth radii, orbiting every 0.365 days, the shortest period among the listed planets. Its mean density is 7.68 g/cm³, 1.39 times Earth's.

K2-157 c and K2-157 d were both discovered in 2025 by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. K2-157 c has a minimum mass of 30.8 Earth masses and an orbital period of 25.9 days, the second-shortest among the listed planets. K2-157 d has a minimum mass of 23.3 Earth masses and an orbital period of 66.5 days, the longest among the listed planets. Both minimum masses are larger than Earth's.
