K2-139 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

K2-139 is a K0 V star 502 light-years away. This spectral type marks it as a main-sequence dwarf, and it hosts one known planet. The star's age is 1.8 billion years, its mass is 0.919 solar masses, and its radius is 0.862 solar radii. Its temperature is 5340 K, and its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's while its reported temperature is cooler.

The sole named planet is K2-139 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2017. Its orbital period is 28.4 days, and its radius is 9.11 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Because the Jupiter-like class exceeds 4 times Earth's radius, that size classification reflects the planet's radius alone.
