K2-126 b: A Super-Earth Orbiting a Cool Dwarf Star

K2-126 is a star 336 light-years away with one known planet. The host star has a reported mass of 0.69 solar masses and a radius of 0.65 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's, and a temperature of 4340 K, which is cooler than the Sun's.

The system's only cataloged planet is K2-126 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2017. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. K2-126 b has a radius of 1.97 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and completes an orbit every 7.39 days.
