K2-108 b: A Jupiter-Like World in a Distant System

K2-108 is a star located 1560 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 7.8 billion years old, with a mass of 1.12 solar masses and a radius of 1.75 solar radii. Its temperature is 5470 K, and its reported mass and radius estimates are both larger than the Sun's, while its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet K2-108 b was discovered in 2017 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is classified as Jupiter-like, a size class for planets exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. K2-108 b has an orbital period of 4.73 days, the time it takes to complete one orbit, and a radius of 5.33 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
