HD 99109 and Its Lone Known Planet

HD 99109 is a K0 star located 179 light-years away. One planet has been found in orbit around it, discovered in 2005 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. The host star has a mass of 1 solar mass and a radius of 0.85 solar radii, smaller than the Sun's, with a temperature of 5310 K that is cooler than the Sun's. Its age is reported as an upper limit of 1 billion years.

The planet, HD 99109 b, has a minimum mass of 140 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass and larger than Earth's, and it completes one orbit every 439 days. That single planet is the entirety of what is known to circle this star.
