HD 97658 is a K1 V star 70.3 light-years away, with one known planet. The V in its spectral type marks it as a main-sequence dwarf, and at 0.85 solar masses, 0.728 solar radii, and 5210 K, it is less massive, smaller, and cooler than the Sun. It is 3.9 billion years old.
The planet, HD 97658 b, was found in 2010 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star. It is a Super-Earth, a class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its radius of 2.12 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 9.49 days, and its mass of 8.3 Earth masses is also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 4.8 g/cm³, 0.871 times Earth's.
