HD 73267 and Its Two Known Planets

HD 73267 is a G-type main-sequence star 164 light-years away. Its spectral type, G5 V, places it in the same broad temperature class as the Sun, though the star is cooler, with a temperature of 5320 K. It is also slightly less massive than the Sun, at 0.89 solar masses, but slightly larger in radius, at 1.04 solar radii. The star is old, with an age of 7.4 billion years.

Two planets are known to orbit HD 73267. Both were found by the radial velocity method, which detects the regular wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion.

HD 73267 b was discovered in 2008. It has a mass of 1320 Earth masses, or roughly 4.16 times Jupiter's mass, and it completes an orbit in 1260 days. Among the listed planets, it has the smallest reported mass and the shortest year.

HD 73267 c was discovered in 2022. It is more massive, at 1630 Earth masses, or roughly 5.13 times Jupiter's mass. Its orbital period is 17100 days, the longest among the listed planets, where it also has the largest reported mass.
