HD 63454 and Its Close-Orbiting Planet

HD 63454 is a K3 V (k) star 123 light-years away, and one planet is known to orbit it. The K-type dwarf is cooler than the Sun, with a temperature of 4910 K, and it is smaller than the Sun in both mass and radius, at 0.8 solar masses and 0.64 solar radii. Its age is given as a reported upper limit of 1 billion years.

The lone planet, HD 63454 b, was found in 2005 using the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. It has a minimum mass of 79.5 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 2.82 days.
