HD 6061 b: A Super-Earth in a Two-Star System

HD 6061 is a star 221 light-years away with one known planet, HD 6061 b. The host star is 2.4 billion years old with a mass of 1.03 solar masses and a radius of 1.01 solar radii. Its temperature of 5930 K is hotter than the Sun's.

HD 6061 b was discovered in 2023 using the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. The planet is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. Its radius estimate of 2.43 Earth radii is larger than Earth's, and its mass estimate is 10 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 3.85 g/cm³, 0.699 times Earth's.

HD 6061 b completes one orbit in 5.25 days.
