HD 564 and Its Planet

HD 564 is a G-type main-sequence star 167 light-years away, with a spectral type of G2/G3 V. It is slightly less massive than the Sun at 0.961 solar masses, slightly larger at 1.01 solar radii, and its temperature of 5900 K is hotter than the Sun's. The star is roughly 5.5 billion years old, and one planet orbits it.

That planet, HD 564 b, was discovered in 2014 by the radial velocity method, whose repeated wobbles reveal a planet and its orbital period. It has a minimum mass of 105 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, meaning this value is a lower bound on the planet's true mass rather than an ordinary estimate. HD 564 b completes one orbit in 492 days.
