HD 5388 is an F6 V star located 173 light-years away. Its spectral type marks it as a main-sequence dwarf. The star has a reported mass of 1.21 solar masses and a radius of 1.91 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's corresponding values. Its temperature of 6300 K is hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.
That planet, HD 5388 b, was discovered in 2010 using the radial velocity method. This technique measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion; repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. HD 5388 b has a mass of 1020 Earth masses and an orbital period of 773 days. Its reported mass estimate is larger than Earth's and roughly 3.2 times Jupiter's mass.
