HD 52265 and Its Planet

HD 52265 is a G0V star 97.8 light-years away. Its spectral type marks it as a main-sequence dwarf in the same broad temperature class as the Sun. The star is 3.76 billion years old, holds 1.17 solar masses, spans 1.28 solar radii, and has a temperature of 6080 K. Its reported mass, radius, and temperature are all larger than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, HD 52265 b, was found in 2000 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star. The planet has a minimum mass of 385 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass that is larger than Earth's and roughly 1.21 times Jupiter's mass. It completes an orbit every 119 days.
