HD 457 and Its Companions

HD 457 is a star 180 light-years from Earth, with one known planet in orbit around it. The host star has a reported mass estimate of 1.15 solar masses, a reported radius estimate of 1.28 solar radii, and a temperature of 6110 K. Each of those values is larger, or in the case of temperature hotter, than the Sun's corresponding value.

The planet HD 457 b was discovered in 2022 using the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion; repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. HD 457 b has a mass of 8450 Earth masses, roughly 26.6 times Jupiter's mass and larger than Earth's mass. Its orbital period is 20300 days.
